A Case of Caplan's Syndrome with Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Abstract
Caplan's syndrome is an accelerated formation of pulmonary nodules that occurs to
patients who have both rheumatoid arthritis and pneumoconiosis. It was firstly reported
in coal worker's pneumoconiosis but subsequently has been noted in association with
other thpes of pneumoconiosis. Large conglomerating mass in complicated
pneumoconiosis develop and cavitation may occur. Pulmonary tuberculosis is one of the
most common complications of pneumoconiosis. The patients with
pneumoconiotuberculosis treat more intensely and longer times of period than other
patients with tuberculosis.
We report a case of Caplan's syndrome associated with cavitary pulmonary
tuberculosis occured in a 58 years old man.
